Autumn’s here and it looks beautiful! Summer may feel like a distant memory at the moment, but the change in weather and arrival of autumn does have its benefits.

  1. Batsford Arboretum, Gloucestershire   

Batsford Arboretum is a botanical garden based in Moreton In Marsh, Gloucestershire.  

This gorgeous site is home to a unique collection of some of the world’s most beautiful and rare trees, shrubs and bamboos spread across 60 acres. It is truly a haven for all garden and plant lovers!  

And now with the autumn season arising, Batsford Arboretum can expect to be increasingly stunning as the leaves convert into their autumn colours. If you visit the home page of their website, you will even find an ‘autumn watch’ which will show you the current colour of their leaves!

  1. The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire 

Discover the hidden heritage and rich nature of the Forest of Dean this autumn. The Forest of Dean is based in Gloucestershire, England.  

This ancient forest has changed many times over the centuries. Today it is still a working forest, producing sustainable timber for the UK market.

  1. National Trust Fyne Court, Somerset 

At the National Trust’s Fyne Court, you can uncover wild gardens, beautiful meadows and a grand woodland. This hidden beauty contains a rich history alongside a lovely landscape. Find it in the heart of the Quantock Hills. 

Tramper hire routes provide a choice of two woodland walks and access to the walled garden.

  1. Parc Cefn Onn, Wales  

This lush country park based in Cardiff is a truly remarkable place to visit. You can enjoy its calming atmosphere alongside its stunning scenery. With autumn on its way this site will be especially beautiful with its developing autumn colours and tree lined forest pathways to explore.

  1. Stover Country Park, Devon 

This Park contains 114 acres of woodland, lake and marsh, heathland, grassland and a substantial variety of wildlife alongside a wealth of historical interest.  

For those wanting a longer route that explores the surrounding countryside and heritage, there is now a 4-mile circuit that takes you through woodlands and hamlets, past the Canadian Remembrance Memorial and alongside the canal that once helped transport granite from Dartmoor to the coast.

  1. Lanhydrock, Cornwall 

Explore the beautiful country estate of National Trust Lanhydrock.  

With over 5 miles of Tramper friendly routes winding through ancient woodland, farmland, meadows and riverside paths it is a perfect day out.  

Enjoy the extensive biodiversity this site offers before taking a break at one of the two cafes on site.
