National Trust Woodchester Park

NEW AND EXPANDED TRAMPER EXPERIENCE!

Explore Woodchester Park in The Cotswolds with ease when you hire the Tramper, all terrain mobility scooter.

Close to The Cotswolds escarpment the Park is tucked in a steep sided wooded valley which takes in a chain of lakes and an unfinished Gothic Mansion, Woodchester House (not operated by National Trust).

The new visitor facilities at the Tinkley Gate offer the perfect start or finish to your visit. The café offers a tempting combination of delicious refreshments (including specialties from the wood fired oven) and sweeping views.

Tramper Routes – New expanded routes on offer!

Valley options – New from 2025! Thanks to significant investment from National Trust, there is a much extended Tramper offer that takes in the full beauty of the property. The Tramper comes into its own as it takes you up and down the steep sides of the valley and you’ll then enjoy a trail with a variety of destination points. You’ll pass through woodland with views across the valley, pass lakesides and for those wanting a longer walk you can go as far as Woodchester Mansion (although if you are planning on a visit inside the Mansion it is recommended that you do this as a separate part of your visit to the property).

Short option – This half hour route is closest to the visitor centre and gives a great introduction to the Park. It passes through open meadows and woodland taking you part of the way down the valley side with views further into the beautiful valley.

The Tramper can also be used to explore the elderflower orchard – a must see in the Spring.

Later in the year improvements are planned which will create a suitable link for the Tramper to access a wide range of options taking you around the Park.

Hiring the Tramper

The Tramper is available 7 days of the week, 10:00am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-3:30pm.

To ensure that the Tramper is available and staff present to hire it to you it is strongly recommended to reserve the Tramper in advance using the following contact details.

No hire fee is charged but any donations towards offering this service are appreciated.

There is no admission fee but a small charge is made for parking (if you are not a National Trust member).

Arrival at Tinkley Gate – Ensure that you follow directions specifically to Tinkley Gate Car Park rather than signposting to Woodchester Park. Accessible parking spaces are available just beyond the main car park from where there is a short walk to the Welcome Centre where the Tramper is based (just before the café).

If you prefer, a visitor can be dropped off before the vehicle is parked in the main car park.
