Celebrating Ten Years

Date Posted: 1 October 2020

Countryside Mobility reaches milestone birthday

Our sister project Countryside Mobility which is an initiative of Living Options Devon recently entered its 10th year. Back in the spring of 2010 it's very first partner sites – Siblyback Lake, Durlston Country Park, Stover Country Park and Haldon Forest – started operating all terrain mobility scooter (Tramper) hire. Since then thousands of people have enjoyed the opportunity provided by the hire service to explore beautiful places with friends and family, including supporters of Heritage Ability.

Celebrations - As with many things in 2020 the plans to mark this special occasion have somewhat had to change. However the team are kick starting the celebrations throughout October (the 10th month of the year) with the 10 for 10 challenge.  A group of willing volunteers are taking part in the 10 for 10 challenge to help raise funds for the refurbishment of ten trampers which are in need of some tender loving care, making sure the trampers look smart and shiny on the outside and keep working on the inside for many more years of service to come.

The 10 for 10 challenge is based around the number 10 with each participant taking part in their chosen physical activity, from 10 different types of dance, 10 different sporting activities, wheeling for 10 minutes per day, to Neil (Project Manager) for Countryside Mobility running 10km ten times. There's still time to get involved, if you would like to participate email [email protected] to sign up or show your support and sponsor the team by making your chosen donation at www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/TenforTen (just select the ‘Donate Now’ button in the top right of the page).

Get involved and Donate - Whether it’s sponsorship or taking part, the team are extremely grateful for any support you can provide.  Lets hope that come Spring / Summer 2021 we will be able to celebrate the 10th year of Countryside Mobility with as many partner sites, supporters and users of the scheme as possible, along with (fingers crossed) some smart and shiny refurbished trampers.

For more information about the scheme and challenge visit the Countryside Mobility website. Thank you for your support!
