Arne is the RSPB’s flagship heathland site, with a vast expanse of open heathland and old oak woodland, and a variety of special wildlife to see including dragonflies, sand lizards, ospreys, Dartford warblers and nightjars. Poole Harbour is next to the reserve, home to winter waders and wildfowl, including the largest wintering population of avocets in the UK.
There are a range of trails – most suitable for the Tramper – for you to explore the diverse range of habitats (information will be provided when hiring as to where it is safe to take the Tramper). There is plenty to see all year round, with beautiful views across Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle, and the Purbeck Hills.
