One of the most popular walks on England’s coast, the stunning views offered along this iconic stretch of coastline to Old Harry Rocks can now be accessed by hiring an all terrain mobility scooter (Tramper).
The Location
Located at the far end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, Old Harry Rocks is one of the most well know locations along the south coast of England. Leaving the village of Studland the Tramper makes easy work of the hill up through the woodland. The views then start to open up to the north as you look across Studland Bay towards Poole Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world. As you reach the peninsula the chalk rocks of the headland and Old Harry Rocks becomes visible. The views across the channel extend past Bournemouth to the New Forest coast and another famous landmark, The Needles on the Isle of Wight.
It’s no wonder this walk made its way to the Top 20 of ITV’s 100 Favourite Walks.
Tramper Hire
As this is a very popular destination, advance booking of the Tramper is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment – particular during spring and summer weekends and school holidays.

There is no hire fee for the Tramper but if you are not a member of Countryside Mobility you’ll need to be taken through the induction process and choose either a 2 week ‘Taster’ membership (£2.50) or Annual Membership (£10). This can be used to access 50+ hire locations that are partners with Countryside Mobility including a number within a short distance of Studland.
Please note that there are not specific accessible toilets at the car park or neighbouring pub. Accessible toilets can be be found at Manor Farm Tearoom and at National Trust Knoll Beach Car Park.
Other Mobility Equipment at National Trust Studland
As part of an initiative to make the Dorset coast a leading light in accessibility, a range of other mobility equipment is available to help you enjoy the beach and sea at National Trust Studland. This equipment is based at National Trust Knoll Beach (just up the road from the car park where Tramper hire takes place).
Equipment includes an electric all terrain wheelchair designed for use on the beach (as well as the short woodland trails at Knoll beach), manual beach wheelchairs and an aqua chair to enable access to the sea.
