Lake District Mobility & North York Moors Mobility

We are delighted to offer members of Countryside Mobility the opportunity to use the new Tramper networks being established in the Lake District and North York Moors.

To use your Countryside Mobility membership to hire a Tramper at one of their sites you simply need to contact the Lake District Mobility office in advance of your visit.  They will be able to arrange you temporary membership and give you details about how to book. Either email [email protected] or phone 07843 754239.

From 2016 to 2018 we helped support Lake District Mobility establish themselves as a charity and 'sister' network to Countryside Mobility and we were delighted to see their first hire location open in May 2018 at Whinlatter Forest which has proved a very popular facility. In 2019, their second hire location, Langdale Estate, became available with a route of 6 miles available. 2021 saw further expansion - a third location, Grizedale Forest, and there are future plans at National Trust Sizergh Castle and National Trust Fell Foot.

Lake District Mobility has also been assisting the North York Moors National Park Authority to establish 2 Tramper hire locations there. Again these use our hire systems so you can use your Countryside Mobility membership as you would in the South West. There are currently 3 locations available - Ravenscar, where you can use the former Whitby to Scarborough railway line to enjoy coastal views, Sutton Bank, which provides stunning views across the Vale of York and Dalby Forest which offers a choice of short and long routes through the forest on the south side of the Moors.

Please visit their website to discover more of their inspiring story and hire locations as they are added to the network over time.
